A satisfying breakfast can set the tone for your entire day – and these Apple and Custard Overnight Oats tick plenty of boxes to do just that. They’re high in protein and low in fat – keeping you fuller for longer. And most importantly – they’re delicious!
If you’re already a fan of overnight oats, you might notice that this recipe isn’t layered in the same way a traditional one would be. We found that sometimes, the oats wouldn’t always soak up the moisture, so we decided to switch things up to keep the texture soft and creamy.
Chia seeds are a popular addition to overnight oats, and we’ve included them here. They’re a nutritional powerhouse – packed with fibre, protein, and tons of vitamins – and because they expand when wet, they help set the “custard.” Don’t worry, they’re not hard to find – you can pick them up in your local supermarket.
What diets is this Apple and Custard Overnight Oats recipe suitable for?
These Overnight Oats are suitable for vegetarians, and they can easily be made gluten-free if you swap the oats for a free-from version.
Remember to take extra care when cooking for people with allergies – use separate utensils, cookware, and preparation surfaces.

We use Sukrin Gold which is an all-natural granulated stevia sweetener alternative to sugar with zero calories. You can grab Sukrin Gold over on Amazon UK.
That being said, you don’t have to use Sukrin. There are lots of other high-quality granulated sweeteners available from the supermarket – such as Canderel Sugarly, and Natvia.

Hi!
I’m just wondering if I could make this diary free? What altnatives would you recommend?
SharonTuesday 31st May 2022
Hi Jenny, we haven’t tested this recipe with dairy-free ingredients so can’t guarantee the results. If you’d like to try making this recipe dairy-free, you could try using a dairy-free natural yogurt and try replacing the quark (there’s no direct dairy-free alternative), with a dairy free cream cheese. There are several brands of dairy-free yoghurts and cheeses available such as Alpro, Violife, Oatly and many supermarkets have their own brands. Let us know how you get on!

Hi Vickie, you can use plain yogurt, with vanilla extract and some sweetener & some custard flavouring. Lakeland do it apparently! Hope this helps x
