Ingredients

  • 250 g 5% fat lean minced beef
  • 1/2 a small red onion peeled and finely diced
  • 1 tsp mild chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 50 g reduced fat Cheddar cheese coarsely grated
  • 25 g jalapenos drained and chopped
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • low-calorie cooking spray

To serve

  • 4 reduced fat burger cheese slices
  • 2 tomatoes sliced
  • 1/2 small red onion peeled and sliced
  • handful of iceberg leaves shredded
  • 4 60g wholemeal rolls

Instructions

  1. Place all the burger ingredients apart from the spray in a mixing bowl and using your hands, mix, pressing and squeezing together to ensure thorough mixing.

  2. Press firmly into 4 equally sized burger shapes, about 1cm thick.

  3. Spray a large, non-stick frying pan with low calorie cooking spray and place over a medium to high heat. When the pan is hot, add the burgers and cook for 2-3 minutes before carefully flipping and cooking for a further 2-3 minutes.

  4. Fill the rolls with the tomatoes, onions and lettuce and place a burger on top. Top with a cheese slice and enjoy!
