1. 7UP Zero Sugar Pink Lemonade Bottle – 3 calories per 100ml glass
It might not be as hot outside this week, but it’s always a good idea to have low-sugar (or no-sugar) drinks on standby. This 7UP Zero Sugar Pink Lemonade Bottle isn’t just eye-catching to look at, it’s also bursting with refreshing lemon, lime and raspberry flavours.
You can always try a pour over ice with lemon wedges or mint leaves, if you’re taking things up a notch!
We use a handful of simple, affordable ingredients to bring our own version of Pink Lemonade down to just 20 calories per glass. Our recipe is far better for you and your budget than shop-bought versions by using a combo of fresh fruit and sweetener.
Plus, you can stash it in frozen cube form for months ready to serve in a flash!
7UP Zero Sugar Pink Lemonade Bottle is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £2.00 per bottle (or £1.50 with a Nectar card),
2. The Tofoo Co. Thai Burgers – 125 calories per burger
These The Tofoo Co. Thai Burgers are all the inspo we need for a Meat-free Monday dinner! The aromatic patties are made up of tofu, carrot, red pepper, spring onion, coriander and chilli – with a hint of lime and soy sauce squeezed in. So, there’s no shortage of flavour!
We piled them high with a Thai-style slaw on a wholemeal bun for a filling, vibrant meal.
They pair like a dream with a fluffy side of our Jasmine, Lime and Coconut Rice. You might recognise this recipe from pages 212-213 of our Quick and Easy book.
The trick is to use a dairy-free alternative that promises all of the flavour without the calories!
Take a scroll through our blog for more Thai-inspired fakeaway night dishes.
The Tofoo Co. Thai Burgers are available from Waitrose, priced at £3.00 for a pack of 2 burgers.
3. Frozen Gut Health Smoothie Mix – 194 calories per serving
We love it when we spot a product that’ll save us some time! This Frozen Gut Health Smoothie Mix is ideal for those busy days where you don’t fancy chopping fruits to blend.
Simply stash a bag in the freezer, ready to blitz into a gut-healthy smoothie – or use the chopped peach, mango, oats, chia seeds and yoghurt bites to prep a healthy dessert.
Frozen fruit is always cracking to have in the freezer for one of our sweet treat go-tos: Mango and Raspberry Ice Cream. The unbelievable thing about this recipe is the size of the ingredients list; you’ll only need bananas, frozen mango, frozen raspberries and granulated sweetener.
It truly is slimming-friendly and fresh at 87 calories per bowlful.
Frozen Gut Health Smoothie Mix are available from Aldi, priced at £1.99 per bag.
4. Sainsbury’s Breaded Chicken Steaks – 209 calories per steak
We’re all in favour of breading chicken from scratch, but these Sainsbury’s Breaded Chicken Steaks are great for taking the stress away on busier days.
The breadcrumb coating around the tender chicken breast is mild, so it’ll pair nicely with a variety of different side dishes. You could always keep things simple with potato wedges, peas and gravy!
When we think about crunchy-coated chicken, our mind goes straight to Katsu. This Loaded Katsu Curry Fries pairs crisp chicken strips with fries, tortilla chips and our Katsu-style sauce whipped up from scratch.
Sainsbury’s Breaded Chicken Steaks are available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £1.69 per pack.
5. Spiced Potato, Chickpea and Mango Salad – 132 calories per 1/2 pot
We really get that summertime feeling when we spot goodies like Spiced Potato, Chickpea and Mango Salad at the shops. The medley of chickpeas, potatoes and onion comes ready-drizzled in a sweet and spicy mango dressing, making it perfect for sunny day picnics and buffets.
Just like Aldi’s potato salad pot, our Chicken and Mango Burgers are sweet, tangy and fiery all at once. By preparing your salsa and burger patties from scratch, you can keep the calories down and control the spice level – be warned, our salsa is definitely on the hotter side!
We found that half of a deseeded red chilli is the perfect, taste bud tingling amount for our salsa bowl.
Spiced Potato, Chickpea and Mango Salad is available from Aldi, priced at £1.89 per pack.
6. LEON Golden Lentil Dhal – 201 calories per pack
LEON has always been one of our favourite ‘fast’ food options. This LEON Golden Lentil Dhal delivers on speed and flavour, with a pouch of curried chickpeas and lentils that’s ready to enjoy in 90 seconds.
Top your portion with some fresh coriander leaves and a scoop of relish – it makes something that’s already delicious even better.
We’re feeling inspired to reach for the lentils in our cupboard and make a batch of Sweet Potato and Red Lentil Soup that’ll serve us for the week.
Chuck all the ingredients together and let them bubble away, until your sweet potatoes are softened and they’ve released their naturally gorgeous earthiness.
LEON Golden Lentil Dhal packs are available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £2.50 (or £2.00 with a Nectar card).
7. Morrisons The Best Tuscan Chicken – 228 calories per 1/2 pack
Is it bad that we picked up this Morrisons The Best Tuscan Chicken meal for two because it reminded us of our own recipe? If so, guilty!
The chicken breasts come ready-coated in a tangy, herby, Parmesan crumb – once they’ve crisped up, that’s your cue to drizzle them with the provided sachet of sun-dried tomato sauce. You really can’t argue with how easy that is…
It’s no exaggeration to say that our Tuscan Chicken Macaroni is one of our most-popular recipes EVER. Even though we’ve not scrimped on cheesiness, each portion works out at just 430 calories – not bad at all for a pasta dish!
If you’ve already tried this one, take a look at what to make next if you love Tuscan Chicken Macaroni.
Morrisons The Best Tuscan Chicken is available from Morrisons, priced at £7.00 for a pack that serves 2.
8. trüfrü Pina Colada Pineapple in White Chocolate & Coconut – 87 calories per 1/7 pack
We love how simple yet delicious these cocktail-inspired trüfrü Pina Colada Pineapple in White Chocolate & Coconut bite are. The pineapple chunks are wrapped in not one, but two, layers of silky chocolate.
After all that, they’re finished with a sprinkling of coconut to complete the tipple-like flavours. How fun does that sound for a light snack or dessert?
Speaking of fun, if you’ve not tried our Pina Colada Pancakes yet, you need to change that. They’re served with a sticky-sweet pineapple and lime topping and a dollop of creamy fat-free Greek yoghurt that’s too scrummy to resist.
trüfrü Pina Colada Pineapple in White Chocolate & Coconut is available from Tesco, priced at £5.95 per bag.
9. Kellogg’s High Protein Bites Chocolate Cereal – 114 calories per serving
While not everyone’s a fan of hazelnut, we absolutely love it! These Kellogg’s High Protein Bites Chocolate Cereal bring a nutty-sweet crunch to the breakfast table.
As well as being fortified with the good vitamins and minerals we all need, they’re also higher in protein (listed as 21% plant-based protein). That means they should leave you feeling fuller for longer than your average cereal!
If you’re looking for a boost in the morning, nothing beats our Raspberry Mocha Granola Pots. As well as a hint of coffee to help you wake up, we’ve swirled in chocolatey yoghurt, juicy raspberries, reduced-fat cream and sticky-sweet maple syrup.
Kellogg’s High Protein Bites Chocolate Cereal is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £3.50 per box (or £2.85 with a Nectar card).
10. Heinz Fish and Chips Sauce – 36 calories per 10g serving
It’s no secret that we love playing with chippy-inspired flavours at Pinch of Nom, so we had to pick up Heinz’ brand-new Fish and Chips Sauce. A self-declared rival to tartare sauce, it’s a tantalisingly creamy combo of gherkins, parsley, and dill.
While it’s a no-brainer to serve it with fish, it also takes jacket potatoes, sarnies, wraps or salads to the next level.
If you’re wondering what we’d pair this tangy condiment with, it’s gotta be our Fish and Chip Fishcakes from pages 82-83 of our Air Fryer book. While our recipe includes a homemade tartare sauce, a squeezy bottle can be a life-saver when you’ve not had a chance to whip the dip!
Heinz Fish and Chips Sauce is available from Tesco, priced at £3.40 per s queasy bottle.
NEW Aldi Super 6 Fruit and Veg Selection
We love Aldi’s fortnightly selection of fresh fruit and veggies! They choose different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price.
Here’s a rundown of the recipes we’d make with this week’s Super 6 offering.
Carrots – 41 calories per 100g
A bag of carrots never goes to waste in our kitchen – we’ll always find a tasty place to put them, from pies and stews to salads and even cakes.
Use them to make a bowl of hearty, nutritious goodness that’ll leave you set for the week with our Carrot and Coriander Soup recipe.
Mango – 60 calories per 100g
Packed with magnesium and potassium, mangoes are famously good for digestion. While we wouldn’t recommend eating the skin, you can do so if you want to absorb every last nutrient!
Rain or shine, we’re always in the mood for Chicken and Mango Pickle Curry.
Mini Pears – 42 calories per 100g
Sweet, grainy and irresistibly juicy, don’t be fooled by the size of these mini pears. They’re gorgeous raw as a grab-and-go lunch box sized snack, or you can cook them into a variety of sweet recipes, like our comfort-loaded Pear and Ginger Crumble.
Apples – 53 calories per 100g
It’s always a good idea to keep an apple handy! They’re a juicy, crispy snack that’ll give your day a sweet boost for only 53 calories.
If you know us, you’ll know we always use a few slices to top our morning Apple Pie Porridge.
Asparagus Tips – 25 calories per 100g
Bursting with nutrients and low in calories, asparagus has a subtle taste and can be cooked in a variety of ways – steam it, grill it or roast it to bring out its nutty notes.
Asparagus adds a gorgeous pop of green to our Creamy Garlic Prawns when we lay on a tapas-inspired spread.
Bananas – 89 calories per 100g
We’ve got no choice! We’ll have to use the Super 6 to stock up on bananas and make a stash of Banana and Peanut Muffins.
They’re pure snack-time heaven at only 53 calories per muffin.
