Slow Cooker Summer Fruits Jam
With the help of your slow cooker, making your own jam from scratch is really no faff at all, and your fruity-sweet filled jars will keep nicely for a few months. While a budget-friendly bag of frozen summer fruits is at the heart of our jammy recipe, any medley of berries will work. Whatever you do, don't forget the jam sugar – your mix won't set without it! So much more than just a toast topper, you can add a spoonful of this to overnight oats, rice pudding, or stir some together with Greek-style yoghurt for a light, slimming-friendly sweet treat. Got a jar to spare? it's the perfect gift for a foodie friend.
Hints & Tips
Below we added some of our communities most common hints and tips. We hope you find them useful.
You will need to use jam sugar or preserving sugar for this recipe: the added pectin is what makes the jam set.
To sterilize the jars, preheat your oven to 160ºC (fan 140ºC/gas mark 3). Wash the jars and lids in hot soapy water, then place the wet jars and lids onto a baking tray and pop them into the oven to dry for ten minutes. You need to pour the jam into the jars while both are still hot, so leave in the oven until ready to fill.
