A whizz in the kitchen

A whizz in the kitchen
Kenwood compact food processor. :::::::::::::::::::: This food processor is a base unit with inter changeable processing units- a jug style and the traditional bowl style. It has a slicing/grating blade and emulsifing tool ( for cream, mayonnaise etc) and silicon spatula included. Jug processor :::::::::::::::::::: A large jug, capable of holding 1.2 litres. It has a star shaped chopping blade in the blade and a locking lid with a removable centre part for adding ingredients while blending. The jug needs to lock into the base to work for safety reasons, but the lid can be removed completely and it will still blend. I made fruit smoothie in my jug, using frozen fruit chunks ( raspberries, pineapple, mango and papaya), yoghurt, fresh bananas and a little orange juice. The blades made light work of the frozen fruit on all settings ( pulse, 1, 2) and all the ingredients were blended evenly and finely. Bowl :::::::::: This holds 2 litres BUT has a working capacity of 1.2 litres ( anymore and it leaks) and has a dual blade in the base. It locks into place on the base ( for safety reasons it will not work unless it is in place correctly and locked - the lid also needs to be locked into place before blending). Ingredients can be added whilst the blender is working through the funnel on the top of the lid. I made salsa to test things out ( shallots, cherry tomatoes, garlic, sweet peppers and a little sweet chilli sauce ) I very roughly chopped the ingredients and on setting 1 whizzed things up for around a minute- I got a very finely chopped salsa- in hindsight I would have got a better "chunky" finish on pulse...however it did show me just how easily this processed things. Power/base unit :::::::::::::: The base unit provides more than enough power for domestic use, it has 3 settings- pulse, one and two...these are selected by a small twisting knob , with the pulse setting needing to be held in place to get things pulsing. It has a good length lead, allowing you to work comfortably. The base unit has little sucker feet on its base to keep it stable whilst in use, these work well. It is roughly as noisy as any other blender I have ever used- so nothing special there, it's not quiet by any stretch of the imagination but nor is it overly loud. Grating blade ::::::::::;;;;;;;;;;;; Put this in one way and it slices, turn it over and it grates- as simple as that and very effective. Though it does leave a small amount of cheese sitting on the top of it un-grated. Cleaning ::::::::::::::: This is dishwasher friendly, but I chose to hand wash, it was cleaned quickly with warm soapy water and whilst I had to be careful of the blades it was a quick and easy process. Instruction leaflet. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::; Not the best, it is trying to cover too much in one leaflet- it has several languages, recipes ( some really good ones!) safety instruction, different models and accessories as well as general advice on which blade to use for what all in there and it just seems like too much is trying to be crammed in. What I think......... I have been really impressed by this little processor, it doesn't take up much room in my kitchen and has coped well with everything I threw in there. The build quality is good, the accessories are well thought out and cover pretty much everything you need in a domestic machine and lastly it is easy to clean.

We use it mainly for pureeing and liquidising food for an invalid. It has a good, powerful 800w motor (much, much better than most stand-alone blenders) and it does general food processing too. It has the same blender "goblet" as the previous model we had and we eventually had to replace that goblet, as it got plastic fatigue. The new weakness with this model is that there is a fiddly "pillar" that has to be fitted before you attach the main food-processor bowl and it jumps off when you remove the bowl. This wasn't there in the previous, very similar, model that we had. I can see why they did this (it's to do with dishwashability), but the solution isn't great.

I bought the processor for an addition to my quite old kenwood chef mixer. I’m not dissatisfied with it at all a bit more expensive than others but to me the makers name says quality.
I chop a fair amount of nuts for various reasons and it’s fabulous for pastry making so quick.

Wasn't sure about buying this as there were some negative reviews but tool the gamble and glad I did.

Nice compact style, fits nicely in my cupboard without taking up too much space but still a decent size to make a nice amount of pastry etc.

Some review said it wouldn't click into place but it does very easily! It's just a case of lining up the little markers and twisting.

So far I've made pastry, guacamole and some smoothies and have found it nice and easy to operate and most importantly easy to clean.

Previously owned one so bought the same. Some improvements in design. works very well .Made cakes soups breadcrumbs chopped nuts and fruit all with excellent results. You have to ensure lid and bowl are lined up properly in order to make it work but once you've figured it out its no problem at all and means it cant easily be started by mistake. Had it while now and am very pleased with it. Its more compact than the old one but just as powerful and has same capacity

I purchased this in April 2023 to replace my old Kenwood which had gone brittle and cracked after a good 15 years of use. I was underwhelmed on arrival but left it until I'd done enough baking to write a fair review. As you see from the pic, the blade is not a good fit and scratches the bowl. These scratches are getting worse over time. The mixer is far less capable than my original. Poorly made, smells like overheated motor if I try to use it to cream butter, and even if I have it working for more than about 15 seconds. Have to turn it off to give it a rest to stop the smell. The middle part of the jug was poorly finished and gave me a nasty cut when washing It up the first week (have only washed it by hand). The blade is a poor design and stumpy so no wonder It struggles to mix anything. It struggles when it's even half full, doesn't evenly mix anything. Pastry (needing cold butter) is almost impossible. The jug for blending is feeble. It's also not fully enclosed. I used to make fresh fruit smoothies and milkshakes in my old one but this one struggles with one banana, a few strawberries and a pint of milk, it somehow just throws the fruit pieces to the top of the jug and has sprayed out the top from the pouring spout where the lid leaves a hole. Would I purchase again? Absolutely not. This one needs replacing and I'll find another manufacturer, Kenwood have lost my custom now - "they don't make them like they used to" has never been more true. Shame as I loved my original but this one just puts me off baking anything as I know it will not perform well. Lasted less than 2 years and I barely used it compared to my old one. I used this maybe once a fortnight on average. Whereas my old one was used several times a week for 15 years - including the times when my kids were weaning, every day for blending the fruit and veg purees. Really disappointed with this all round and hoping my review saves others from finding out the hard way how poor this is.

It looks great, it processes great....however....removing the bowl has proven to be rather intimate.....yes...I said intimate! The reason for this is the poor design... it doesn't start unless you click it into place onto the base....to do this...as there is nothing to grip the base with....like a handle....you literally have to HUG it to click it into position! This isn't a big problem as its usually empty before you start to process something....the fun starts when you have whipped your cream, or blended your crumbs, or your cake ingredients, or grated and sliced your veggies and have removed the lid and now need to remove the bowl to decant as required....then be ready for the INTIMACY....cos...no matter how hard you try to release the bowl...the only way the base is letting go....is if you get up close and personal! Wedging it between your breasts and wrapping your left arm around it in an almighty embrace, tugging on its handle until if finally releases its load...getting its contents all over your clothing!! My husband has discovered that the base is far more willing to release the bowl, if you hold onto its knob! (The on/off speed dial thingy) Im hoping our Kenwood Food Processor will loosen up in time and with regular use. :-/

I’m really pleased with this item. It works well and produces excellent results. Only niggles: a) it really does need some force to get the bowl into place. Apparently this should get easier with use, according to the Kenwood website. At first I thought it was faulty until one last almighty shove did it b) the grating/slicing disc is dangerous. You are warned not to touch the blades, but the edge is equally lethal as the metal is rough. Surely it would have not taken much more to curl the edge under properly? Also gives it a cheap and tinny feel.
