    Couldn't get these in the supermarket so ordered them (expensively) from Amazon. They are dark, soft and yummy with a slightly nutty taste, and tiny, so the laxative effect warning, although very apt, didn't worry me too much (just one is enough to satisfy my need for a sweetie now and then.) But just another little word of warning: while they may be beneficial for the teeeth, some of the ingredients, including palm oil, mean they're not totally guilt free, so think twice before ordering. Never mind, I'm going to live dangerously and 'pop' one of these ( well, maybe two) while watching an episode of 'New Tricks' later tonight. Born to be wild, I guess! (Update 2017: they are now finding their way into supermarkets.)

    These are deeeeeeelicious !!!!
    As a diabetic (Type 2) I need to watch my sugar intake and I've been trying to find decent nice sweets to satisfy my sweet tooth for a while. Only 2-3 sets of sweets are any good. One of those was the Sugar Free Werther's Original's but now Werther's have brought out this toffee and it's delicious. How did they get it to taste so good AND it chews and binds like toffee (which many don't)? It's so good everyone in my house munches on them (dammit ... get your own) Really recommended without hesitation. You're gonna love these honestly !

    These sweets are yummy and leave no funny aftertaste like some sugar free things. I couldn't say that they tasted any different to normal toffee to be honest. We bought them so our daughter can have sweets but avoid sugar on her sensitive teeth, but they did cause some pain on her teeth like normal sweets with sugar do. This is probably because they do contain a small amount of cane sugar syrup and therefor have less than 0.5g of sugar per 100g. Most of the 100g is made up of various sugar alcohols (polyols).

    The sweetners include Maltitol, Isomalt and Sorbitol syrup which are all polyols. Polyols can have a laxative effect if consumed in large quantities and there is a warning on the pack to this effect, but we experienced no problem after two sweets in one go (have resisted having more than that, but it is hard to stop). If you had the whole pack, you'd have probably had over 50g of polyols, which is the daily amount over which your are likely to experience a laxative effect, but remember that Polyols are also found in all sorts of other food, including fresh fruit and veg! They really do get stuck to your teeth, but polyols apparently does not promote tooth decay. The NHS site says that a 2011 report by the EFSA concluded that polyols actually help to reduce plaque acidity and help restoring tooth enamel.

    In conclusion, they are very yummy, very similar to normal toffee, just resist the urge to keep eating them, otherwise you may not be able to resist a different, less pleasant urge later on!

    The toffees are delicious, I gave one to my son without telling them they were sugar free and he didn't notice it. They took a long time to arrive though and for that reason I think the postage price is a bit high but as I've not been able to find these in any of my usual shops I paid it willingly but at a total price of £2:49 for one pack, I won't be buying regularly.

    Got these as diabetic and currently on a sugar free diet. Taste great, just like normal toffees so a welcome change from crackers and my usual diet snacks.
    However, dont eat too many. Though sugar free, they had a laxative effect on me, and I ended up running to the bathroom for a few hours one night, no doubt the sweetner in them. Nice enough in moderation though.

    I recently bought these (and these Werther's Original Sugar Free Butter Candies, 80g) for a diabetic relative. I've found that these toffee Werthers are increasingly rarer finds in shops, and had never seen a sugar free version before.

    Initially I was very sceptical of how good an idea this was after having bought Sugar Free Jelly Teddy Bears 1 kilo bag as a gift prank for one of my friends (the sugar free version famously has some rather intense laxative qualities). However, my relative enjoys them and reports no ill effects! Personally I can't tell the difference from the regular version.

    The bag was a little smaller than I expected - it was about the same size as a bag of sweets you could buy from the cinema. I think I was imagining the much larger bags werthers used to be sold in.
